~ Accountability breeds response-ability. ~ ~ Our very survival depends on our ability to stay awake, to adjust to new ideas, to remain vigilant and to face the challenge of change. ~ ~ Adaptability is not imitation. It means power of resistance and assimiliation. ~ ~ All of our unhappiness comes from our inability to be alone. ~ ~ Fairness is man's ability to rise above his prejudices. ~ ~ Every diamond has the ability to shine when there is someone to recognize its good facets and inhibit its flaws. ~ ~ Ages of experience have taught humanity that the commitment of a husband and wife to love and to serve one another promotes the welfare of children and the stability of society ~ ~ Too many people feel that where you start out dictates where you should end up. I was on welfare and just shy of 19 when my first daughter was born, but I was encouraged to take advantage of my ability and drive and remained in school. ~ ~ The supreme reality of our time is... the vulnerability of our planet. ~ ~ A thing is right when it tends to preserve the integrity, stability and beauty of the biotic community. It is wrong when it tends otherwise ~ ~ Ability to see the cultural value of wilderness boils down, in the last analysis, to a question of intellectual humility. The shallow-minded modern who has lost his rootage in the land assumes that he has already discovered what is important. ~ ~ Our ability to perceive quality in nature begins, as in part, with the pretty. It expands through successive stages of the beautiful to values as yet uncaptured by language. The quality of cranes lies, I think, in this higher gamut, as yet beyond the reach of words. ~ ~ We were happy to provide habitat for fish and wildlife species, ... They ascribe failure to a lack of inspiration or ability, or to misfortune, rather than to insufficient application. At the core of every true talent there is an awareness of the difficulties inherent in any achievement, and the confidence that by persistence and patience something worthwhile will be realized. Thus talent is a species of vigor. ~ ~ If you really do want to be an actor who can satisfy himself and his audience, you need to be vulnerable.
