~ Never judge a philosophy by its abuse ~  ~ The majority, oppressing an individual, is guilty of a crime, abuses its strength, and by acting on the law of the strongest breaks up the foundations of society ~ ~ Democracy is an abuse of statistics. ~ ~ We expect teachers to handle teenage pregnancy, substance abuse, and the failings of the family. Then we expect them to educate our children ~ ~ Terrorism is in good part an effect of government propaganda; it serves to deflect attention from governmental abuse toward a mostly imagined, highly dangerous outside enemy ~ ~ Abuse changes your life...Fight Back and change the life of your abusers by Breaking Your Silence on Abuse! ~ ~ The earth we abuse and the living things we kill will, in the end, take their revenge; for in exploiting their presence we are diminishing our future ~ ~ I understood when I was just a child that without water, everything dies. I didn't understand until much later that no one "owns" water. It might rise on your property, but it just passes through. You can use it, and abuse it, but it is not yours to own. It is part of the global commons, not "property" but part of our life support system ~ ~ We abuse land because we regard it as a commodity belonging to us. When we see land as a community to which we belong, we may begin to use it with love and respect. ~ ~ Fundamental Christian values include preserving one's own health, feeding the hungry, preventing animal abuse, and protecting the environment. Vegetarianism effectively promotes these values ~ ~ The country and the Congress were misled into war. I regret that we were not given the truth; as I said more than a year ago, knowing what we know now, I would not have gone to war in Iraq. And knowing now the full measure of the Bush Administration’s duplicity and incompetence, I doubt there are many members of Congress who would give them the authority they abused so badly. I know I would not. ~ ~ But constant experience shows us that every man invested with power is apt to abuse it, and to carry his authority as far as it will go. ~  |
