They are companions, teachers, magicians, bankers of the treasures of the mind, Books are humanity in print. ~ ~ Learning is acquired by reading books; but the much more necessary learning, the knowledge of the world, is only to be acquired by reading man, and studying all the various editions of them. ~ ~ When her name is mentioned in the opera history books we will recall that vibrant, soaring tone-that and the blinding, high-beam-headlight smile that she flashed on her fans at each curtain call. ~ ~ Books serve to show a man that those original thoughts of his aren't very new after all ~ ~ A man practices the art of adventure when he breaks the chain of routine and renews his life through reading new books, traveling to new places, making new friends, taking up new hobbies and adopting new viewpoints ~ ~ Equations seem like treasures, spotted in the rough by some discerning individual, plucked and examined, placed in the grand storehouse of knowledge, passed on from generation to generation. This is so convenient a way to present scientific discovery, and so useful for textbooks, that it can be called the treasure-hunt picture of knowledge. ~ ~ Books are immortal sons deifying their sires. ~ ~ It started off as a hobby. I was never one to do much fishing and hunting. On occasion I did. I was mostly a homebody with a fairy tale marriage. To tell you the truth I was an egghead growing up. I was a bookworm. I kept my head in books, a sort of introverted type person. ~ |
