~ The greater difficulty, the more glory in surmounting it. Skillful pilots gain their reputation from storms and tempests. ~ ~ The greater the obstacle, the more glory in overcoming it. ~ ~ Sudden glory is the passion which makes those grimaces called laughter. ~ ~ Who tracks the steps of glory to the grave? ~ ~ Military glory --the attractive rainbow that rises in showers of blood. ~ ~ For glory gives herself only to those who have always dreamed of her. ~ ~ Glory built on selfish principles, is shame and guilt. ~ ~ Glory paid to our ashes comes too late. ~ ~ True glory takes root, and even spreads; all false pretences, like flowers, fall to the ground; nor can any counterfeit last long. ~ ~ I am climbing a difficult road; but the glory gives me strength. ~ ~ There is no road of flowers leading to glory ~ ~ What vanity needs for its satisfaction is glory, and it's easy to have glory without power. ~ ~ Oh Jesus, they have built these churches for the sake of their own glory, and embellished them with silk and melted gold. . . . They left the bodies of Thy chosen poor wrapped in tattered raiment in the cold night. . . . They filled the sky with the smoke of burning candles and incense and left the bodies of Thy faithful worshipers empty of bread. . . . They raised their voices with hymns of praise, but deafened themselves to the cry and moan of the widows and orphans. Come again, Oh Living Jesus, and drive the vendors of Thy faith from Thy sacred temple, for they have turned it into a dark cave where vipers of hypocrisy and falsehood crawl and abound. ~ ~ I don't love baseball. I don't love most of today's players. I don't love the owners. I do love, however, the baseball that is in the heads of baseball fans. I love the dreams of glory of 10-year-olds, the reminiscences of 70-year-olds. The greatest baseball arena is in our heads, what we bring to the games, to the telecasts, to reading newspaper reports. ~ ~ Our sins, like to our shadows, when our day was in its glory, scarce appeared; toward our evening, how great and monstrous! ~ ~ This special feeling towards fruit, its glory and abundance, is I would say universal.... We respond to strawberry fields or cherry orchards with a delight that a cabbage patch or even an elegant vegetable garden cannot provoke ~ ~ Meditation is the life of the soul; action is the soul of meditation; honor is the reward of action; so meditate, that thou mayst do; so do, that thou mayst purchase honor; for which purchase, give God the glory. ~ ~ The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, nor the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when he discovers that someone believes in him and is willing to trust him with his friendship. ~ ~ Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail ~ ~ Military glory - that attractive rainbow that rises in showers of blood ~ ~ Simplicity is the glory of expression ~ ~ There is no glory in battle worth the blood it costs ~ ~ Language... has created the word 'loneliness' to express the pain of being alone. And it has created the word 'solitude' to express the glory of being alone. ~ ~ The noblest spirit is most strongly attracted by the love of glory. ~ ~ Grace is but glory begun, and glory is but grace perfected. ~ ~ Grace tried is better than grace, and more than grace; it is glory in its infancy ~ ~ Consciousness is the glory of creation. ~ ~ Defeat may serve as well as victory to shake the soul and let the glory out. ~ ~ There are no idealists in the plant world and no compassion. The rose and the morning glory know no mercy. Bindweed, the morning glory, will quickly choke its competitors to death, and the fencerow rose will just as quietly crowd out any other plant that tried to share its roothold. Idealism and mercy are human terms and human concepts. ~ ~ Each day comes to me with both hands full of possibilities, and in its brief course I discern all the verities and realities of my existence; the bliss of growth, the glory of action, the spirit of beauty. ~ |
