~ I cannot lead you into battle. I do not give you laws or administer justice but I can do something elseI can give my heart and my devotion to these old islands and to all the peoples of our brotherhood of nations. ~ ~ These are people who are capable of devotion, public devotion, to justice. They meant what they said and every day that passes, they mean it more. ~ ~ Justice and goodwill will outlast passion. ~ ~ All of us who are concerned for peace and triumph of reason and justice must be keenly aware how small an influence reason and honest good will exert upon events in the political field. ~ ~ The cause of justice is the cause of humanity. Its advocates should overflow with universal good will. We should love this cause, for it conduces to the general happiness of mankind. ~ ~ For a successful revolution it is not enough that there is discontent. What is required is a profound and thorough conviction of the justice, necessity and importance of political and social rights. ~ ~ An individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for the law. ~ ~ Legislation to apply the principle of equal pay for equal work without discrimination because of sex is a matter of simple justice. ~ ~ Justice is itself the great standing policy of civil society; and any eminent departure from it, under any circumstances, lies under the suspicion of being no policy at all. ~ ~ Where there are too many policemen, there is no liberty. Where there are too many soldiers, there is no peace. Where there are too many lawyers, there is no justice. ~ ~ Delay in justice is injustice. ~ ~ After a lengthy and unfortunate delay in our investigation, justice can go forward. ~ ~ The virtue of justice consists in moderation, as regulated by wisdom. ~ ~ No free government, or the blessings of liberty, can be preserved to any people but by a firm adherence to justice, moderation, temperance, frugality, and virtue; and by a frequent recurrence to fundamental principles. ~ ~ Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice. And moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue. ~ ~ If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality. ~ ~ They use thought only to justify their injustices, and speech only to disguise their thoughts. ~ ~ The only ends for which governments are constituted, and obedience rendered to them, are the obtaining of justice and protection; and they who cannot provide for both give the people a right of taking such ways as best please themselves, in order to their own safety. ~ ~ Liberty, equality - bad principles! The only true principle for humanity is justice; and justice to the feeble is protection and kindness. ~ ~ Punishment - The justice that the guilty deal out to those that are caught. ~ ~ Punishment is justice for the unjust. ~ ~ The passions possess a certain injustice and self interest which makes it dangerous to follow them, and in reality we should distrust them even when they appear most trustworthy. ~ ~ This momentous achievement marks a victory for America, for people who seek peace around the world, and for all those who lost loved ones on September 11, 2001. The fight against terror goes on, but tonight America has sent an unmistakable message: No matter how long it takes, justice will be done. ~ ~ Though it took a decade to find bin Laden, there is one consolation for his long evasion of justice: He lived long enough to witness what some are calling the Arab Spring, the complete repudiation of his violent ideology. ~ ~ Injustice never rules forever. ~ ~ Extreme law is often extreme injustice. ~ ~ A kingdom founded on injustice never lasts. ~ ~ An injustice anywhere is an injustice everywhere. ~ ~ Injustice constitutes the essence of social life. ~ ~ Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. ~ |
