~ Life in abundance comes only through great love. ~ ~ Life in abundance comes only through great love. ~ ~ Abundance ~ An endless supply of water, trees heavily laden with fruit, a sun that shines every day, seasons in their never-ending cycle, a constant supply of air, an infinite wellspring of love, so many people to share with, an eternal cascade of imagination and creativity, unlimited lessons and growth, much valuable work to do, limitless potential for expanding and opening our hearts, unending forests to wander, evermore books to read and write, a vast mind of thoughts to explore, overflowing goodness, exponential wonder, overwhelming mercy, ~ a copious abundance of abundance to ponder. ~ ~ Hypocrisy itself does great honor, or rather justice, to religion, and tacitly acknowledges it to be an ornament to human nature. The hypocrite would not be at so much pains to put on the appearance of virtue, if he did not know it was the most proper and effectual means to gain the love and esteem of mankind. ~ ~ It is impossible that this gnosis resulting in the heart should be achieved by man for any other purpose than to obey God, love Him, and worship Him. This gnosis should be sought for the sake of God, not for any other reason whatsoever, unlike the remaining external acts of devotion, which can be performed for other worldly interests, such as hypocrisy, praise, and commendation. ~ ~ Inspire me with love for my art and for thy creatures. In the sufferer let me see only the human being. ~ ~ Gardens... should be like lovely, well-shaped girls: all curves, secret corners, unexpected deviations, seductive surprises and then still more curves. ~ ~ Who loves a garden still his Eden keeps, Perennial pleasures plants, and wholesome harvest reaps. ~ ~ The love of gardening is a seed once sown that never dies ~ ~ Flowers are beautiful hieroglyphics of nature, with which she indicates how much she loves us ~ ~ What a blessing it is to love books. Everybody must love something, and I know of no objects of love that give such substantial and unfailing returns as books and a garden. ~ ~ Nothing is more beautiful than the loveliness of the woods before sunrise. ~ ~ I am fully and intensely aware that plants are conscious of love and respond to it as they do to nothing else. ~ ~ If you truly love Nature, you will find beauty everywhere. ~ ~ It used to be thought that our love of plants was an impractical but pure passion. But now, in the age of environmental crisis, we're discovering that gardening is essential to human life. ~ ~ Us sing and dance, make faces and give flower bouquets, trying to be loved. You ever notice that trees do everything to git attention we do, except walk? ~ ~ We have descended into the garden and caught three hundred slugs. How I love the mixture of the beautiful and the squalid in gardening. It makes it so lifelike ~ ~ Love grants in a moment what toil can hardly achieve in an age ~ ~ No matter what you've done for yourself or for humanity, if you can't look back on having given love and attention to your own family, what have you really accomplished ~ ~ He who has achieved success has worked well, laughed often and loved much ~ ~ The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect but by the play instinct acting from inner necessity. The creative mind plays with the objects it loves ~ ~ Love many things, for therein lies the true strength, and whosoever loves much performs much, and can accomplish much, and what is done in love is done well. ~ ~ Children love and want to be loved and they very much prefer the joy of accomplishment to the triumph of hateful failure. ~ ~ There are three things in my life which I really love: God, my family, and baseball. The only problem - once baseball season starts, I change the order around a bit ~ ~ Back then, my idol was Bugs Bunny, because I saw a cartoon of him playing ball - you know, the one where he plays every position himself with nobody else on the field but him? Now that I think of it, Bugs is still my idol. You have to love a ballplayer like that ~ ~ The other sports are just sports. Baseball is a love ~ ~ Baseball fans love numbers. They love to swirl them around their mouths like Bordeaux wine ~ ~ I don't love baseball. I don't love most of today's players. I don't love the owners. I do love, however, the baseball that is in the heads of baseball fans. I love the dreams of glory of 10-year-olds, the reminiscences of 70-year-olds. The greatest baseball arena is in our heads, what we bring to the games, to the telecasts, to reading newspaper reports. ~ ~ Fix your eye on the ball from the moment the pitcher holds it in his glove. Follow it as he throws to the plate and stay with it until the play is completed. Action takes place only where the ball goes ~ ~ It's a pretty sure thing that the player's bat is what speaks loudest when it's contract time, but there are moments when the glove has the last word ~ |
