~ The megalomaniac differs from the narcissist by the fact that he wishes to be powerful rather than charming, and seeks to be feared rather than loved. To this type belong many lunatics and most of the great men of history. ~ ~ We all have our own life to pursue, our own kind of dream to be weaving, and we all have the power to make wishes come true, as long as we keep believing. ~ ~ What then is freedom? The power to live as one wishes. ~ ~ If I were to wish for anything, I should not wish for wealth and power, but for the passionate sense of potential -- for the eye which, ever young and ardent, sees the possible. Pleasure disappoints; possibility never. ~ ~ I do not wish to give up the power of personal arms and be defenseless against those who will ever and always keep and bear arms those in crime and those in government. ~ ~ When you take charge of your life, there is no longer need to ask permission of other people or society at large. When you ask permission, you give someone veto power over your life. ~ ~ The inner speech, your thoughts, can cause you to be rich or poor, loved or unloved, happy or unhappy, attractive or unattractive, powerful or weak ~ ~ Not necessity, not desire /no, the love of power is the demon of men. Let them have everything /health, food, a place to live, entertainment /they are and remain unhappy and low-spirited: for the demon waits and waits and will be satisfied. ~ ~ In the intellectual order, the virtue of humility is nothing more nor less than the power of attention. ~ ~ Willpower is the key to success. Successful people strive no matter what they feel by applying their will to overcome apathy, doubt or fear. ~ ~ For anyone who works in front of an audience there is no thrill quite like that of feeling and hearing the evidence of the audience members' enjoyment. Laughter and applause really are powerful. ~ ~ Pleasure is a shadow, wealth is vanity, and power a pageant; but knowledge is ecstatic in enjoyment, perennial in frame, unlimited in space and indefinite in duration. ~ ~ The power of a movement lies in the fact that it can indeed change the habits of people. It is a solecism. ~ ~ If we desire to avoid insult, we must be able to repel it; if we desire to secure peace, one of the most powerful instruments of our rising prosperity, it must be known, that we are at all times ready for War. ~ ~ Not the power to remember, but its very opposite, the power to forget, is a necessary condition for our existence. ~ ~ With all our mastery over the powers of Nature we have adhered to the view that the struggle for existence is a permanent and necessary condition of life. ~ ~ I feel more confident than ever that the power to save the planet rests with the individual consumer. ~ ~ The two most abundant forms of power on earth are solar and wind, and they're getting cheaper and cheaper ~ ~ We still have to learn how to live peacefully, not only with our fellow men but also with nature and, above all, with those Higher Powers which have made nature and have made us; for, assuredly, we have not come about by accident and certainly have not made ourselves ~ ~ Today any successful and competent businessman will employ the latest and best-tested methods in production, distribution, and administration, and many are discovering that one of the greatest of all efficiency methods is prayer power. ~ ~ The men who succeed are the efficient few. They are the few who have the ambition and will power to develop themselves. ~ ~ Fanatics in power and the funnel of a tornado have this in common - the narrow path in which they move is marked by violence and destruction ~ ~ Defiance is beautiful. The defiance of power, especially great or overwhelming power, exhaults and glorifies, the rebel ~ ~ If we were all given by magic the power to read each other's thoughts, I suppose the first effect would be to dissolve all friendships. ~ ~ Changing the world doesn’t require much money. Again, think in terms of empowerment and not charity. ~ |
