~ History is, strictly speaking, the study of questions; the study of answers belongs to anthropology and sociology. ~ ~ It is better to debate a question without settling it than to settle a question without debating it. ~ ~ He who frames the question wins the debate. ~ ~ The crucial question one comes back to is the examination; without that experience is meaningless. And I think it's true that society is becoming more and more passive, less and less fired up with enthusiasm, in many spheres. ~ ~ Anger blows out the lamp of the mind. I would say it's about that and not about aging or death. ~ ~ My biggest kick comes from the individual fans I run into. Middle-aged men ask me when we're going to do more Johnny Quest cartoons. ~ ~ The attraction, and my particular participation is in being able to communicate with my fans, answer their questions, get a feel for how they respond to Vader. ~ ~ The key to wisdom is this -- constant and frequent questioning ... for by doubting we are led to question and by questioning we arrive at the truth. ~ ~ If the president is failing to disclose material facts with regard to legislation being presented to the Congress on a question as important as war and peace, I think it does impair the level of trust that the House and the Senate have for this administration. ~ ~ Love is the answer, but while you are waiting for the answer, sex raises some pretty good questions. ~ ~ A prudent question is one half the wisdom. ~ ~ Politics ... was at least half a question of proper stage management. And the higher the stakes, the more critical that management became. ~ ~ In religion and politics people's beliefs and convictions are in almost every case gotten at second-hand, and without examination, from authorities who have not themselves examined the questions at issue but have taken them at second-hand from other. ~ ~ A political leader is necessarily an imposter since he believes in solving life's problems without asking its question. ~ ~ If a man loves the labour of his trade, apart from any question of success or fame, the gods have called him. ~ ~ As a former veteran, I understand the needs of veterans, and have been clear - we will work together, stand together with the Administration, but we will also question their policies when they shortchange veterans and military retirees. ~ ~ The primary tool of science is skepticism, whose light shrivels unquestioning faith. ~ |
