~ Television is a corporate vulgarity. ~ ~ The engineering is secondary to the vision. ~ ~ It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord. ~ ~ Two strongly influential movements--naturalism and absurdism--have polarized western theatre, arguing respectively for a tidy global perspective of human behavior or for an idiosyncratic local vision, in which ultimately no human behavioral patterns can be abstracted. One is left to choose between existence represented as strict linear determinism or as utter randomness. ~ ~ I think it's only in a crisis that Americans see other people. It has to be an American crisis, of course. If two countries fight that do not supply the Americans with some precious commodity, then the education of the public does not take place. But when the dictator falls, when the oil is threatened, then you turn on the television and they tell you where the country is, what the language is, how to pronounce the names of the leaders, what the religion is all about, and maybe you can cut out recipes in the newspaper of Persian dishes. ~ ~ The vision of a champion is bent over, drenched in sweat, at the point of exhaustion, when nobody else is looking. ~ ~ The master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his information and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence at whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he's always doing both. ~ ~ Children are remarkable for their intelligence and ardor, for their curiosity, their intolerance of shams, the clarity and ruthlessness of their vision. ~ ~ One of the fundamental differences between the Victim Orientation and this one [Creator] is where you put your focus of attentionFor Victims, the focus is always on what they dont want: the problems that seem constantly to multiply in their lives. They dont want the person, condition, or circumstance they consider their Persecutor, and they dont want the fear that leads to fight, flee or freeze reactions, either. Creators, on the other hand, place their focus on what they do want. Doing this, Creators still face and solve problems in the course of creating outcomes they want, but their focus remains fixed on their ultimate vision. ~ ~ The Convention is not only a visionary document. We are reminded daily that it is an agreement that works and its utility can be seen in the everyday use to which I have seen it increasingly being put by country after country, in policy, in practice and in law. ~ ~ Unlike any other form of writing, the stories of episodic television require the blended imagination, talent, and tenacity of a staff of writers. ~ ~ It's a very bold vision for space exploration. ~ ~ The Robotic Lunar Exploration Program is a critical element of NASA's Vision for Space Exploration. Your Vision is the promise of what you shall one day be; your Ideal is the prophecy of what you shall at last unveil. ~ ~ Cherish your visions; cherish your ideals; cherish the music that stirs in your heart, the beauty that forms in your mind, the loveliness that drapes your purest thoughts, for out of them will grow delightful conditions, all heavenly environment; of these if you but remain true to them, your world will at last be built. ~ ~ Too much television watching got me chasing dreams. ~ ~ The ability to think straight, some knowledge of the past, some vision of the future, some urge to fit that service into the well-being of the community - these are the most vital things that education must try to produce ~ ~ It’s the idea of using a vision of the future to sharpen your present-moment decisions that is the real key to planning ~ ~ And the children of Israel did so: and Joseph gave them wagons, according to the commandment of Pharaoh, and gave them provision for the way. ~ ~ To become truly immortal, a work of art must escape all human limits: logic and common sense will only interfere.
