~ Many people flounder about in life because they do not have a purpose, an objective toward which to work. ~ ~ Having thus chosen our course, without guile and with pure purpose, let us renew our trust in God, and go forward without fear and with manly hearts. ~ ~ There's a plane flying over me and I'm looking forward to being able to relax and not worry about the weather or boat speed. ~ ~ I'm tired. I'm tired of feeling rejected by the American people. I'm tired of waking up in the middle of the night worrying about the war. ~ ~ The war on terrorism can never be won. ~ ~ Terrorism is in good part an effect of government propaganda; it serves to deflect attention from governmental abuse toward a mostly imagined, highly dangerous outside enemy ~ ~ Some people say global warming and ozone depletion will kill us. But I`m far more worried about the people who have made it their sworn duty to keep us all alive. ~ ~ Once a man worries, he clings to anything out of desperation; and once he clings he is bound to get exhausted or to exhaust whomever or whatever he is clinging to. A warrior-hunter, on the other hand, knows he will lure game into his traps over and over again, so he doesn’t worry. ~ ~ I have learned to live each day as it comes, and not to borrow trouble by dreading tomorrow. It is the dark menace of the future that makes cowards of us. ~ ~ The mark of a true crush Is that you fall in love first And grope for reasons afterward. ~ ~ Civilization is a progress from an indefinite, incoherent homogeneity toward a definite, coherent heterogeneity. ~ ~ My atheism, like that of Spinoza, is true piety towards the universe and denies only gods fashioned by men in their own image to be servants of their human interests. ~ ~ Millions of innocent men, women, and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burned, tortured, fined, and imprisoned, yet we have not advanced one inch toward uniformity. What has been the effect of coercion? To make one half of the world fools and the other half hypocrites. ~ ~ Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems. ~ ~ No matter how big and touch a problem may be, get rid of confusion by taking one little step toward solution. Do something. ~ ~ Be always at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let each New Year find you a better man. ~ ~ There is no vice so simple but assumes Some mark of virtue on his outward parts. ~ ~ So, rather than appear foolish afterward, I renounce seeming clever now. ~ ~ Military power wins battles, but spiritual power wins wars. ~ ~ Look at an infantryman's eyes and you can tell how much war he has seen ~ ~ War is much too serious a matter to be entrusted to the military. ~ ~ I believe life is constantly testing us for our level of commitment, and life's greatest rewards are reserved for those who demonstrate a never-ending commitment to act until they achieve. This level of resolve can move mountains, but it must be constant and consistent. As simplistic as this may sound, it is still the common denominator separating those who live their dreams from those who live in regret. ~ ~ We all live in the protection of certain cowardices which we call our principles. ~ ~ If a dog jumps in your lap, it is because he is fond of you; but if a cat does the same thing, it is because your lap is warmer. ~ ~ Happiness is a warm puppy. ~ ~ Conscience is the inner voice that warns us somebody may be looking. ~ ~ Every human has four endowments- self awareness, conscience, independent will and creative imagination.
