Family Quotes
Evening the playing field for women workers is a matter of fairness and with women now providing a significant share of their family's income, it is a family issue.
Rosa DeLauro

Our employees are like extended members of our family.

Children have no use for psychology. They detest sociology. They still believe in God, the family, angels, devils, witches, goblins, logic, clarity, punctuation, and other such obsolete stuff. When a book is boring, they yawn openly. They don't expect their writer to redeem humanity, but leave to adults such childish allusions.

DELUSION, n. The father of a most respectable family, comprising Enthusiasm, Affection, Self-denial, Faith, Hope, Charity and many other goodly sons and daughters.
Ambrose Gwinett Bierce

Las Vegas is perhaps the most color-blind, class-free place in America. As long as your cash or credit line holds out, no one gives a damn about your race, gender, national origin, sexual orientation, address, family lineage, voter registration or even your criminal arrest record. Money is the great leveler.
MARC COOPER

How do you balance growing the business with raising a family? You just do. I had a business, a lot of orders, and a baby howling for supper. You balance it. You give your baby supper first and then get your orders in. I have worked on more holidays but what are you going to do?
Lillian Vernon

Carloads of tourists would photograph the family mailbox, and there was weird mail, death threats.
Henry Thomas

Someone once said that every form of government has one characteristic peculiar to it and if that characteristic is lost, the government will fall. In a monarchy, it is affection and respect for the royal family. If that is lost the monarch is lost. In a dictatorship, it is fear. If the people stop fearing the dictator he'll lose power. In a representative government such as ours, it is virtue. If virtue goes, the government fails. Are we choosing paths that are politically expedient and morally questionable? Are we in truth losing our virtue? . . . If so, we may be nearer the dustbin of history than we realize.

Classical and romantic: private language of a family quarrel, a dead dispute over the distribution of emphasis between man and nature.

The powering thing behind the movie was to capture the feeling of being alone and going back to Kentucky and getting walloped by a sense of family I hadn't realized was so much in place.
Cameron Crowe

No matter where you go in Kentucky, people smile at you and wave and make you feel welcome. It is important for people who are away from family and home to associate something with home that can ease their minds of some of the things they left behind. I'm honored I had the opportunity to draw and paint the logo for them.
Chris Vaught

They didn't provide food or water. I lived in starvation because my family could not visit me and provide food. The world should press ahead with a resolution on Burma.
Bo Kyi

The little word is has its tragedies; it marries and identifies different things with the greatest innocence; and yet no two are ever identical, and if therein lies the charm of wedding them and calling them one, therein too lies the danger. Whenever I use the word is, except in sheer tautology, I deeply misuse it; and when I discover my error, the world seems to fall asunder and the members of my family no longer know one another.

In exchange for that neutrality, we have agreed to preference Family First after the Greens in the upper house.
David Feeney

If you cannot get rid of the family skeleton, you may as well make it dance.

Temperament lies behind mood; behind will, lies the fate of character. Then behind both, the influence of family the tyranny of culture; and finally the power of climate and environment; and we are free, only to the extent we rise above these.

If inflation continues, the two-car garage will be replaced by the two-family garage.

The development of a country has to start at the foundation of the society, the family.

\\\"Strangers are just family you have yet to come to know.\\\"

I've made all my money on my own without my family and I work very hard, ... Just listening to my father . . . So just basically following that and following my heart.
Paris Hilton

Some material things make my life more enjoyable; many, however, would not. I like having an expensive private plane, but owning a half-dozen homes would be a burden. Too often, a vast collection of possessions ends up possessing its owner. The asset I most value, aside from health, is interesting, diverse, and long-standing friends. My wealth has come from a combination of living in America, some lucky genes, and compound interest. Both my children and I won what I call the ovarian lottery. (For starters, the odds against my 1930 birth taking place in the U.S. were at least 30 to 1. My being male and white also removed huge obstacles that a majority of Americans then faced.) My luck was accentuated by my living in a market system that sometimes produces distorted results, though overall it serves our country well. Ive worked in an economy that rewards someone who saves the lives of others on a battlefield with a medal, rewards a great teacher with thank-you notes from parents, but rewards those who can detect the mispricing of securities with sums reaching into the billions. In short, fates distribution of long straws is wildly capricious. The reaction of my family and me to our extraordinary good fortune is not guilt, but rather gratitude. Were we to use more than 1% of my claim checks on ourselves, neither our happiness nor our well-being would be enhanced. In contrast, that remaining 99% can have a huge effect on the health and welfare of others. That reality sets an obvious course for me and my family: Keep all we can conceivably need and distribute the rest to society, for its needs. My pledge starts us down that course.

The best of all gifts around any Christmas tree: the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each other.
Burton Hillis (Better Homes and Gardens)

To put the world in order, we must first put the nation in order; to put the nation in order, we must put the family in order; to put the family in order, we must cultivate our personal life; and to cultivate our personal life, we must first set our hearts right.

Family quarrels have a total bitterness unmatched by others. Yet it sometimes happens that they also have a kind of tang, a pleasantness beneath the unpleasantness, based on the tacit understanding that this is not for keeps; that any limb you climb out on will still be there later for you to climb back.

The great advantage of living in a large family is that early lesson of life's essential unfairness.
Nancy Mitford
