Opposition Quotes

Believe it or not, after the Second Vatican Council anticlericalism is a Catholic virtue. In elaborating a theology of laity, as many call it, and speaking of a hierarchy of service rather than of domination in the Church, Vatican II implicitly endorsed opposition to clericalism, which is a policy of maintaining or increasing the power of a religious hierarchy. Clearly, this sort of anticlericalism has nothing to do with the other anticlericalism.

Leon Bertoletti

To you I'm an atheist; to God, I'm the Loyal Opposition.

Woody Allen

The Ninth Rule of the ethics of means and ends is that any effective means is automatically judged by the opposition as being unethical.

Saul David Alinsky

I like nature but not its substitutes. Naturalist art, illusionism, is a substitute for nature. I remember that in arguing with Mondrian (in Paris 1920s, ed.), he opposed art to nature saying that art is artificial and nature is natural. I do not share this opinion. I do not think that nature is in natural opposition to art. Arts origins are natural.

Jean Arp

We do, as a new Government, have to be extremely careful after 18 years in opposition. A lot of people who worked for us, they then go on and work for the lobby firms. Anthony Charles Lynton Blair

The educator shall help the young to educate themselves in opposition to the age.

Georg Morris Cohen Brandes

The number of difficulties makes the Christian's conquest the more illustrious. A gracious man should be made up all of fire, overcoming and consuming all opposition, as fire does the stubble. All difficulties should be but whetstones to his fortitude.
