Hate
A soul is a perfect reflector. More flawless than any mirror. What is inside will become manifest outwardly. Our inner anger, at ourselves, at the world, will reflect into outward thoughts and actions of hatred. There are two broad types of hatred — the hatred that comes from some great wrong, a murder or horrendous betrayal. This is a category of feeling unto itself. But the commoner hatred is that which builds slowly, festers inside, and has no real basis in the world beyond our own deluded imaginings. All the wrongs that have been committed against us, all the small injuries that conspire to make our lives difficult. When one believes these things, when one gives in, and targets these feelings onto others, it is nothing more than our own twisted self-contempt directed towards the universe. The harm this brings to others is manifold, often creating hatred of the first type. The harm this brings to self is to further tighten the chains of one’s own internal hell.
